Cloud computing - Best web apps

Real benefits of computing in cloud?

Recently google released operation system that want user to do all their work online..

No need for hard drive
Example is Puppy Linux that works perfectly on computer without hard drive (that is probably biggest alternative to google OS)

We had to install mathematica, today you can visit wolfram search page and run "matematica" of their server hard drive..

how many users have installed mathematica (lets say 1 CD (700MB)x100000users=70000000MB=70000GB=70TB)
how much cost 70 TB of hard drives? yep you can't afford that.

Useful web applications:
  • wikipedia - replacment for Encarta. Wiki means "quick"
  • eBuddy -no need for messenger
  • Octave - no need to install program on hard drive (matlab alternative)
  • yahoo mail inbox notes - thats very cool, it notepad you can access from anywhere
  • C compiler -you have programed somenting and don't want to install c compiler? do it online
  • pdf viewers, compresed archive extractors, spell chekcers and more..

These are web-browser applications

We agree that many of these are not so good as if you would have them on your comp in this moment

But as processing powers increase and internet speeds up and with development of new technologys (ajax make working online as if you would work offline)

BANG - the buzz moves online!
