Difference between wearables and robotic extension

We love big robots where human is inside robot. But we also love wearables. What is the difference?

Ability to move around in suit.. Robotic?

So, what do you prefer, robotics devices or wearable devices? Robotic devices would give you more armor, more room to be (like small home in "megarobot"), but will be harder to move.
